Bangkok:Suvarnabhumi Airport has addressed an incident involving inappropriate behavior by a security officer employed by Airports of Thailand Public Company Limited (AOT) during a security screening operation. The airport has coordinated with AOT to ensure decisive disciplinary action is taken if the officer is found guilty.
According to Thai News Agency, Suvarnabhumi Airport is responding to a video clip posted by a passenger, which alleged inappropriate behavior by security personnel at the airport. The airport has reviewed CCTV footage and contacted Airports of Thailand Security Company Limited (ATS), the agency employing the security personnel, to gather facts and conduct a thorough investigation into the incident.
The investigation revealed that the incident occurred on October 23, 2026, at 316 PM at the domestic passenger security checkpoint, Terminal B. The issues arose over the passengers attempting to bring liquids through the security checkpoint and communication between the passengers and the security personnel. The passenger had two bottles of drinking water and one child's water bottle for inspection. The officers explained the restrictions on bringing liquids and allowed one bottle of drinking water and one child's water bottle to pass, while the remaining bottle was not permitted.
A review of CCTV footage and information from staff members indicated that after the explanation of restrictions, an altercation involving verbal abuse and emotional outbursts occurred between the passenger and the officer, leading to the officer displaying inappropriate behavior. The airport authority stated that this behavior was inconsistent with established service standards, emphasizing that officers must control their emotions and treat passengers with courtesy.
On October 29, 2026, AOT ordered the temporary suspension of the employee in question pending the investigation. Suvarnabhumi Airport has apologized for the incident and stressed to its service staff the importance of emotional control, patience, and professional communication to prevent similar incidents in the future.
