Suvarnabhumi Climbs Global Airport Rankings, Don Mueang Shines in Low-Cost Category

Bangkok: Suvarnabhumi Airport has made it to the world stage! Ranked 39th among the best airports in 2025, while Don Mueang Airport took home 8th place among the best low-cost airports by Skytrax.

According to Thai News Agency, Mr. Keerati Kitimanawat, President of Airports of Thailand Public Company Limited (AOT), said that from the policy to drive the development of Thailand’s aviation industry to promote trade, investment, and tourism, generate income and revive the country’s economy, aiming for the goal of pushing Thai airports to be ranked among the world’s top 50 airports within 1 year and among the world’s top 20 within 5 years. Most recently, the Skytrax website, a website for ranking airport services, announced the world’s best airports for 2025, ranking Suvarnabhumi Airport at 39th place, up from 58th place, up 19 places from the previous year. It was also ranked as the world’s most improved airport at 3rd place in 2025, and was also ranked as the best airport in the category of airports that can accommodate 50-60 million passengers per year (Best Airports: 50 to 60 million passengers) at 6th place in 2025.

For Don Mueang Airport (DMK), it is ranked 8th, up from 10th last year, in the World’s Best Low-Cost Airline Terminals. The ranking is based on a survey of global air travelers under the World’s Airport Survey, conducted by Skytrax, a leading aviation research and consulting company in the UK that specializes in analyzing the quality of service provided by airlines and airports worldwide. Skytrax officially announced the results of the 2025 rankings on 9 April 2025 at the Passenger Terminal Expo 2025 in Madrid, Spain.

Dr. Keerati concluded that the significant ranking of Suvarnabhumi and Don Mueang airports this year reflects the acceptance from travelers worldwide of the quality of AOT’s airport services. This is the result of the cooperation of all relevant agencies, and AOT will continue to develop its infrastructure, technology, and service quality to continuously raise the standards of Thai airports to be on par with world-class airports to meet the expectations of passengers and create pride for Thais nationwide.
