Taiwan Launches Website for Chinese Citizens to Submit Intelligence Information

Taipei: Taiwan has launched an official website enabling mainland Chinese citizens to directly submit intelligence information to Taiwanese authorities.

According to Thai News Agency, this initiative was driven by a surge in Chinese citizens contacting Taiwanese agencies to provide information amid China's economic challenges and tight political control, leading to increased public discontent.

The website features a one-minute AI-generated video narrating the story of a Chinese civil servant who, under political scrutiny, decides to send information to Taiwan as a means of enacting change. Taiwan's intelligence agency has stated that this digital channel follows the approach of US, UK, and Israeli intelligence agencies, focusing on user anonymity and digital security.

To ensure the safety of users, Taiwanese authorities recommend using non-Chinese devices, performing a factory reset, avoiding Wi-Fi networks that require real-name registration, and consistently using a VPN, as access to the site is blocked from within China. All submitted information will undergo verification by experts to prevent potential disruptions from false information.

This strategy mirrors a 2024 initiative by the Chinese government, which opened a public email channel for reporting groups supporting Taiwan's independence, aiming to impose legal penalties.
