Sakon nakhon: Two teenagers tragically lost their lives after being chased by a group of teens, losing control of their motorcycle, and crashing into a sidewalk. The horrifying incident concluded with the victims being repeatedly stomped on, resulting in their deaths. Their heartbroken families are urging the police to expedite the investigation, fearing that justice may be delayed. The suspects involved have since been apprehended.
According to Thai News Agency, the incident was captured by CCTV footage on the Phannanikom - Ban Lak Chet road in Phannanikom District. The footage showed two motorcycles in close pursuit of each other. The motorcycle carrying the victims lost control and crashed into the curb. The group of teenagers who had been chasing them stopped, dismounted, and brutally kicked the victims before fleeing the scene. The incident occurred on May 22, 2026, at approximately 11:00 PM.
The victims were identified as Nong Pee, 17, and Nong Kew, 16. Both sustained severe bruises to their faces and heads and succumbed to their injuries. In a heart-wrenching scene, relatives of the deceased visited the accident site with four monks to perform a ritual for the spirits of the victims. Mr. Salakjit, the father of one of the victims, received the tragic news from his son's girlfriend. He expressed his devastation and suspicion that the incident was not a mere accident after viewing the CCTV footage. He is calling for swift justice for his son.
In response to the incident, the Superintendent of Phannanikom Police Station has instructed the investigative team to thoroughly review CCTV footage from the vicinity. This led to the arrest of the three suspects involved: Mr. Kim, 19; Mr. Yew, 17; and Mr. Tony, 16. During questioning, the suspects confessed to chasing and assaulting the victims. The altercation reportedly began after an earlier confrontation where the victims shouted a challenge, provoking the suspects. The chase ended with the victims losing control of their motorcycle, after which the suspects continued their assault.
The police have charged the suspects with "jointly assaulting another person resulting in death." The suspects have been taken into custody and handed over to investigators at Phannanikom Police Station for further legal proceedings.
