Bangkok: "Teng" enters the polling station in Taling Chan, urging Bangkok residents to vote. He points out that his family was moved to a different polling station and warns voters to check their eligibility beforehand.
According to Thai News Agency, at 8:10 AM on June 28, 2026, Mr. Natthapong Ruangpanyawut, or "Teng," the leader of the People's Party, arrived at polling station No. 8 in Bang Chueak Nang Subdistrict, Taling Chan District, Bangkok. He was there to check his name on the voter list and cast his vote in the Bangkok Governor and Bangkok Metropolitan Council (BMA) member elections.
Mr. Nattapong revealed after casting his vote that his family's polling station had changed this election. Previously, they voted at polling station 15 in Bang Chueak Nang subdistrict, which was near their home. However, this time the polling station was moved to station 8, even though his registered address remained the same. He stated that the change of polling station did not hinder his ability to vote. He also urged and encouraged all citizens to check their names and polling station locations on the government's online voter registration website before traveling to ensure a smooth and efficient process.
Regarding the election atmosphere in the Taling Chan area this morning, Mr. Nattapong observed that citizens were enthusiastic and arriving in droves to cast their votes, which he considered a positive sign. He also stated that the reason he chose to vote at 8:10 AM was because it was the time he had scheduled with the media and he intended it to be a symbolic time.
Furthermore, the People's Party leader emphasized the importance of this local election, stating that although the Bangkok gubernatorial and Bangkok City Council elections will not offer advance or out-of-district voting like at the national level, which might cause some inconvenience to some citizens, he urged everyone to exercise their right to vote until the polls close at 5:00 PM. He stressed that the new Bangkok governor and city council members will be responsible for managing and determining the direction of Bangkok's budget, which exceeds 100 billion baht annually. This amount will directly impact the livelihoods and quality of life of Bangkok residents over the next four years.
When asked about his expectations for the election results, Mr. Nattapong, as the leader of the People's Party, stated that the party had fielded candidates for both the Bangkok Governor and Bangkok City Council positions. However, he did not have any specific predictions or targets for the votes, as he believed the most important thing was for people to exercise their right to vote in large numbers to reflect the true will of the people of Bangkok. He anticipated that clearer trends in the vote count would become apparent approximately 1-2 hours after the polls closed. He also reiterated his confidence in the People's Party's approach and pledged to accept and respect the people's decision, regardless of the election outcome.
