Tensions Escalate as KNLA Forces Intensify Attacks on Thai-Myanmar Border

Bangkok: The Thai-Myanmar border in Tak Province remains fraught with tension as the Karen National Liberation Army (KNLA) forces have launched a series of aggressive attacks. The conflict has intensified with the use of drones equipped with bombs, targeting Myanmar military positions in a sustained offensive. In response, the Myanmar military deployed bombers to defend their positions located just 800 meters from the border.

According to Thai News Agency, reports from the Rajamanu Task Force highlighted that the KNLA forces used unmanned aerial vehicles to drop seven bombs on the Myanmar military at the Pulutu base, situated in Langpoi District, Pha-an District, Karen State, Myanmar. This location is directly opposite Ban Ta-la-oka, Village 6, Mae U-su Subdistrict, Tha Song Yang District, Tak Province. In a counterattack, the Myanmar military utilized a YAK-130 aircraft to drop a bomb in the vicinity of the Pulutu base to safeguard their position from further assaults by the KNLA.

The Thai military, including personnel from the Rajamanu Task Force and the 35th Ranger Regiment Task Force, Naresuan Force, continue to maintain a vigilant presence along the border. Their primary objective is to ensure the safety of local residents and to prevent any breaches of sovereignty by foreign armed groups.

The ongoing conflict has led to a continuous flow of displaced individuals seeking refuge from the violence. By 5:00 p.m., a total of 65 people had returned to Myanmar, while 463 individuals remained on the Thai side, having fled the fighting.
