TH-AI Passport Bid Controversy: Rakchanok Demands Crucial Documents from Digital Economy Ministry

Bangkok: 'Rakchanok' has formally requested crucial documents from the Ministry of Digital Economy and Society (DE) regarding the TH-AI Passport project, highlighting delays in receiving proposals from bidders and evaluation reports. The parliamentary committee awaits these documents, some of which have been delayed by up to two months.

According to Thai News Agency, Ms. Rukchanok Srinork, a Member of Parliament from the People's Party and Chair of the House Committee on Budget Preparation and Monitoring, addressed the issue on her Facebook page. She responded to a statement by Mr. Pachara Anantasilsin, Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Digital Economy and Society, who claimed to have sent nine documents concerning the TH-AI Passport project. Ms. Srinork emphasized that the committee had requested additional documents, specifically the bid proposals from all three participants and the evaluation report, which have not yet been received.

Ms. Rakchanok noted that while nine documents were mentioned by the DE Ministry, four were not requested by the committee as they are accessible via the Comptroller General's Department's e-GP system. She mentioned that the remaining documents, including employment contracts and meeting minutes, were received late and some contained redacted information. However, the critical documents related to the bids and scoring remain outstanding.

Ms. Rakchanok further urged the Ministry of Digital Economy and Society to clarify when the outstanding documents would be delivered, following previous requests dating back to June. She questioned the ministry's communication practices, noting discrepancies in the timing of press document releases on social media compared to official channels. Her letter specifically requested three documents: the technical proposals from all bidders, the evaluation and scoring report, and the latest contract related to the TH-AI Passport project between the National Digital Economy and Society Commission and the TH Joint Venture.

This marks the third time Ms. Rakchanok has requested these documents from the Ministry, with previous requests submitted in July and August 2026. As of today, the DE Ministry will open the system for public pre-registration of the TH-AI Passport project, indicating that the latest contract should already be finalized, leaving no justification for withholding the requested information.
