Bangkok: The Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Digital Economy and Society has clarified that the registration for the TH-AI Passport is not yet open, as the project awaits the Attorney General's approval on amendments to the supplementary contract. The Secretary emphasized that the date of July 31, 2026, is intended only for a User Assessment Test (UAT) for the TH-AI Passport project. The official registration and service fee commencement are pending the Attorney General's office's opinion on the necessary contractual amendments.
According to Thai News Agency, Mr. Pachara Anantasilsin, Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Digital Economy and Society (DE), provided insights into the project's status. He noted that the date mentioned is not an official public registration day but is designated for the contracted company to execute a final system test, nearing the completion of system development.
Mr. Pachara explained that the Ministry cannot officially start the project or the contract period until the Attorney General's Office offers feedback on the contract amendments. The testing on July 31, 2026, may involve pre-registration, though specific participant details and channels remain undisclosed. The company has indicated the system's readiness for UAT, but this does not signify the project's official commencement.
Once the Attorney General's feedback is received, the Ministry plans to launch the project promptly. However, they intend to align the start date with service and cost calculation cycles to prevent confusion from mid-cycle starts. Payment guidelines remain unchanged, with costs calculated based on actual active user numbers rather than the total allocated for all services. While Mr. Pachara did not specify potential cost reductions per user, he emphasized user numbers as the key factor.
The Permanent Secretary also refuted claims of confirming a launch date for July 31st or August 1st, 2026, stating he did not provide press interviews on the matter due to his commitments to parliamentary budget discussions. He clarified that an official response from the Attorney General's Office is required before setting a registration date or initiating services.
