Bangkok: The Thai badminton team has departed for Japan, ready to compete in the 20th Asian Games. The association aims to win two medals.

According to Thai News Agency, the 20-member Thai national badminton team left for Nagoya-Aichi, Japan late last night to compete in the 2026 Asian Games. Air Chief Marshal Monthol Satchukorn, President of the Badminton Association of Thailand, along with Mr. Preecha Lalun, Deputy Governor of the Sports Authority of Thailand for Elite Sports and Sports Science, and Mr. Yutthaya Chinheet, Director of Elite Sports Development at the Sports Authority of Thailand, were present at Suvarnabhumi Airport to see off and encourage the athletes and coaching staff.

The Asian Games team is led by "View" Kulavut Vitidsarn, "Ikkyu" Panichol Teeraratkul, "Mew" Pornpawee Chochuwong, and "May" Ratchanok Intanon. The president of the Badminton Association stated that all athletes are currently physically and mentally ready, determined to perform their best and win medals for the Thai people. The Badminton Association has set a target of two medals.

The badminton competition at the Asian Games will be held from September 20-29, 2026, at the Ishinomiya City Gymnasium in Aichi Prefecture, Japan. The team events will take place from September 20-24, 2026, and the individual events from September 25-29, 2026.
