Bangkok: The Prime Minister expressed his condolences for the injured soldiers. According to Thai News Agency, Prime Minister’s Office Spokesperson Siripong Angkasakulkiat announced after the Cabinet meeting that Prime Minister and Minister of Interior Anutin Charnvirakul expressed his condolences for the Thai soldier injured by stepping on a landmine in the border area, a loss that should not have occurred on Thai soil. He also informed the Cabinet of the results of the National Security Council (NSC) meeting this morning.
The National Security Council (NSC) resolved to indefinitely suspend all relevant agencies, including the Ministry of Defense and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, implementing the Joint Declaration signed in Kuala Lumpur until the hostilities between Thailand and Cambodia have resolved. The Prime Minister has ordered the Ministry of Defense to strengthen military measures to protect the sovereignty and safety of the people in the border areas.
The Prime Minister has also assigned the Ministry of Foreign Affairs to address diplomatic objections and foster understanding with international organizations, particularly observer countries. He has also ordered the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Interior to expedite education for citizens in seven border provinces to prepare for unforeseen situations. He has also instructed the Ministry of Education and the Ministry of Higher Education, Science, Research, and Innovation to conduct emergency response drills. The Prime Minister has instructed all agencies to implement these measures rigorously and continuously.
