Bangkok: Thai companies have reported net profits exceeding 765 billion baht in the first half of 2026, marking a 22% increase and reflecting economic expansion. According to Thai News Agency, the Stock Exchange of Thailand (SET) announced sustained growth in its second-quarter 2026 performance, driven by economic expansion. The net profit for the first half of 2026 reached 765,969 million baht, a 22.2% increase year-on-year, supported by rising oil prices, which have led to a turnaround in the petrochemical business's profitability. Almost all business sectors of listed companies experienced growth in the first half of the year.
Mr. Soravis Krairiksh, Deputy Manager and Head of Marketing at the Stock Exchange of Thailand, revealed that 800 listed companies, representing 95% of the total 839 companies (including SET and mai companies scheduled to submit financial statements by June 30, 2026, and excluding real estate investment trusts and infrastructure funds), have submitted their financial results for the first half of 2026. Out of these, 592 companies reported net profits, representing 74% of all companies that submitted financial statements.
The Q2 2026 earnings of listed companies showed recovery across almost all business sectors, positively impacting performance in the first half of 2026 compared to the same period last year. Companies on the SET reported sales of 8,752,978 million baht, an increase of 7.5%, core profit of 952,560 million baht, an increase of 64.5%, and net profit of 765,969 million baht, an increase of 22.2%. The core profit margin increased to 10.9% from 7.1% in the same period last year. The financial position of listed companies as of June 30, 2026, showed a debt-to-equity ratio (D/E ratio) (excluding the financial industry) of 1.28 times, down from 1.30 times in Q2 2025.
Mr. Soravis stated that the continued economic expansion in the second quarter resulted in overall corporate performance growth in the first half of 2026 across almost all business sectors. The petrochemical sector saw higher performance and profit margins, while companies in general businesses also experienced growth, including the industrial goods sector, the technology and electronics sector driven by digital expansion, and the service sector boosted by tourism and consumer spending. However, the commercial banking sector was impacted by lower policy interest rates, and the food and agricultural commodity sector faced lower commodity prices.
Companies listed on the Market for Alternative Investment (mai) reported total sales of 108,868 million baht in the first half of 2026, an increase of 8.5%, operating profit of 8,432 million baht, an increase of 21.5%, and total net profit of 4,774 million baht, an increase of 17.1% compared to the same period last year.
