Bangkok:The 2026 IMF-World Bank Group Annual Meetings, scheduled from October 12-18 at the Queen Sirikit National Convention Center, will not only serve as a major economic and financial policy forum but also as a platform to showcase Thailand's rich culinary heritage.
According to Thai News Agency, this event will highlight "Thai cuisine" as a powerful cultural asset, presenting it to a diverse audience, including finance ministers, central bank governors, executives from financial institutions, and academics from more than 190 countries.
Thongpol Kittikunwachana, the Executive Chef at the Queen Sirikit National Convention Center, emphasized that the menu has been crafted to narrate the story of Thailand's cultural richness and resource abundance through its diverse ingredients. Over 70% of the ingredients are locally sourced and sustainable, with dishes featuring a variety of Thai rice and other ingredients.
One notable dish is the "Thai Heart Rice Salad," which combines rice from different regions with ingredients from across the country, telling the story of Thai land and sea in every bite. Other highlights include the Betong Grilled Chicken Sandwich, Sakon Nakhon Wagyu Beef Tart, and Grilled Tilapia with Miso, each dish celebrating unique regional flavors and ingredients.
Desserts will feature a Nakhon Si Thammarat Chocolate Tart, the internationally beloved Mango Sticky Rice, and a Seasonal Fresh Fruit Cart offering a taste of Thailand's fresh local produce.
The meetings will thus provide a remarkable opportunity to showcase authentic Thai flavors and culinary creativity, leaving a lasting impression on global economic leaders.
