Thai Economy Expected to Avoid Stagnation in Fourth Quarter

Bangkok: Confident in the resilience of the Thai economy, Poj Aramwattananon, Chairman of the Thai Chamber of Commerce and the Federation of Thai Chambers of Commerce, has expressed optimism that the economy will not stagnate in the fourth quarter. Despite various analyses predicting stagnation and concerns about the ongoing US-Iran conflict, Poj believes that the government has implemented measures to support economic recovery.

According to Thai News Agency, Mr. Poj commented on the economic analysis for the fourth quarter, suggesting that the feared stagnation is unlikely to occur. He mentioned that whether additional measures are necessary from government agencies will depend on the outcomes of the first meeting of the Joint Public-Private Sector Committee for Economic Problem Solving (JPC). Poj emphasized that there is no need for concern, as the government has established several plans and working groups, which include frameworks for negotiation with the US and Iran.

Mr. Lawaron Saengsanit, Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Finance, also commented on the measures to address the US-Iran situation. He stated that the ministry would await the results of the Economic and Social Council meeting before deciding on any new measures.

The Permanent Secretary further provided updates on the project review process by the committee screening projects using funds from the Emergency Decree on Borrowing. He noted that the meeting had concluded late in the evening, and once all necessary information is compiled, a subsequent meeting will be held to commence the screening process.
