Bangkok: The Secretary-General of the Election Commission of Thailand has confirmed that elections will proceed as planned along the Thai-Cambodian border, despite ongoing clashes and martial law in the region. The Election Commission (EC) is prepared to ensure the electoral process is conducted smoothly.

According to Thai News Agency, Mr. Saeng Boonmee, Secretary-General of the Election Commission, addressed concerns regarding the impact of the border situation on the electoral process. While acknowledging the challenges faced by the people living in these areas, including eligible voters, he emphasized that the election schedule will remain unaffected. The EC has devised management strategies to address potential issues, ensuring that the elections proceed as planned, with the cooperation of the voters being crucial to this process.

Mr. Saeng, when queried about the management of elections in areas under martial law, stated that the Election Commission has a comprehensive plan in place.
