Thai Extreme Sports Athletes Shine at 2026 World Championships

Bangkok: Thai extreme sports athletes secured first place in Asia and a top 3 finish at the 2026 World Championships. The Extreme Sports Association of Thailand sent its national cable wakeboard and wakeskate team to compete in the IWWF World Cable Wakeboard and Wakeskate Championships 2026, held from August 8-16, 2026, in Beijing, China. Over 170 athletes from 30 countries participated. The Thai team secured 3rd place in the Team Overall ranking, determined by combining the scores of all athletes from each country. Italy took 1st place and Germany 2nd.

According to Thai News Agency, in the individual events, several Thai athletes reached the finals, led by Sanya Pholthip (5th place in Open Men Wakeskate), Watcharaporn Dongnoi (6th place in Open Women Wakeskate), Lalada Liu (5th place in U18 Women Wakeboard), Praepim Pipatsawat (5th place in Open Women Wakeboard), and Peeranat Fakthongyu (6th place in Open Men Wakeboard).

Achieving the number one ranking in Asia and a top three finish worldwide is another success for the Thai extreme sports team on the global stage. The next event for the Thai national team will be the 2026 IWWF Wakesurf World Championships in Hangzhou, China, from October 9-17, 2026.
