Bangkok: The government has transferred 487 million baht in real-time funds to support the SEA Games. The funds were allocated as prize money directly to athletes, coaches, and sports associations from the 2025 SEA Games, recognizing their achievements and contributions.
According to Thai News Agency, Mr. Atthakorn Sirilatthayakon, Minister of Tourism and Sports, presided over the award ceremony at the Indoor Stadium, Hua Mak, Sports Authority of Thailand. The ceremony was attended by athletes, coaches, sports associations, and officials who participated in the 33rd Southeast Asian Games hosted by Thailand. The event was graced by Dr. Pattpong Pongskul, Inspector General of the Ministry of Tourism and Sports; Dr. Kongsak Yodmani, Governor of the Sports Authority of Thailand; and Mr. Tanukiart Chanchum, Manager of the National Sports Development Fund.
The Thai government, through the Ministry of Tourism and Sports, the National Sports Development Fund, and the Sports Authority of Thailand, provided a total of 487,365,000 baht in prize money. This amount was distributed among athletes, coaches, and sports associations, with the allocation based on medal achievements. A total of 335,700,000 baht was awarded to athletes, with specific amounts for gold, silver, and bronze medals. Additionally, coaches received 20% of the athletes’ prize money, totaling 16,185,000 baht, while sports associations received 30%, amounting to 100,710,000 baht. The funds were transferred directly to the recipients’ accounts, recognizing the achievements of winning 500 medals in total, including 233 gold, 154 silver, and 113 bronze medals.
The Rowing Association of Thailand emerged as the top recipient of prize money, receiving 36,832,500 baht for securing 12 gold medals, 9 silver medals, and 5 bronze medals. Meanwhile, the Jujitsu Association of Thailand won the most medals at the SEA Games, securing 14 gold medals, 11 silver medals, and 5 bronze medals, and received prize money totaling 24,585,000 baht. The Amateur Boxing Association of Thailand followed with 14 gold medals, 2 silver medals, and 1 bronze medal, receiving 6,862,500 baht in prize money.
