Wuxi: “Coach Che” is leading the senior taekwondo team to compete in the Wuxi 2025 World Taekwondo Championships, aiming to win one gold medal. The championships, set to take place in Wuxi, People’s Republic of China, from October 24 to October 30, will feature 16 divisions.
According to Thai News Agency, the Thai team will send ten athletes, comprising five male and five female competitors. The male athletes include Wisawak Jaichu in the 54 kg category, Sirawit Mahamad at 58 kg, Naphat Sritimongkol at 63 kg, Banlang Thapthimdaeng at 68 kg, and Krittayach Prompat at 74 kg. Meanwhile, the female athletes are Patcharakan Poolkerd in the 46 kg category, Kamonchanok Siken at 49 kg, Chutikan Jongkolrattanawatana at 53 kg, Pannapa Hansuchin at 57 kg, and Sasikan Thongchan at 62 kg.
Mr. Chatchai Che, the head coach, along with Police Lieutenant Colonel Chatchawan Khaolaor and Assistant Coach Wichit Sittikan, accompanied the athletes on flight TG 644 to Shanghai, continuing by car to Wuxi. “Yu” Banlang Thapthimdaeng, a gold medalist at the World University Games and silver medalist in the 63 kg category at the World Championship, expressed that competing in the 68 kg weight class for the second time brings more experience, and he aims to win a medal.
Similarly, “Baitei” Sasikarn Thongchan, competing in the 62 kg division, shared her determination to win a medal after previous unsuccessful attempts at the World Championships. Head coach Chatchai Che emphasized the challenges at the world championship, with a cumulative score of 140 being difficult to achieve. Notably, athletes from Russia will be participating, adding to the competitive landscape. Despite this, the Thai team’s ambition is to secure one gold medal.
