Thai-Malaysian Railway Cooperation Discussed by SRT and Ambassador

Kuala lumpur: The State Railway of Thailand (SRT) discussed cooperation in linking the Thai-Malaysian railway route. The Governor of the State Railway of Thailand led a group of executives to pay a courtesy call on the Ambassador in Kuala Lumpur and discuss cooperation in linking the Thai-Malaysian railway route.

According to Thai News Agency, Mr. Veerit Amrapal, Governor of the State Railway of Thailand (SRT), along with SRT executives, paid a courtesy call on Ms. Lada Phumas, Ambassador to Kuala Lumpur. This meeting took place on the occasion of her leading the delegation to attend the 45th ASEAN Railway CEO’s Conference (ARCEO’s) in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.

Mr. Veerit revealed that they discussed cooperation in rail transport, particularly focusing on the progress of the Thailand-Malaysia rail link project. The project encompasses the ASEAN Express freight transport initiative, which aims to transport goods from China through Laos to Thailand and then to Malaysia. This initiative is expected to enhance economic competitiveness and efficiently support the regional supply chain.

Furthermore, international bus services will be provided from Bangkok Central Station to Butterworth Station in Malaysia, aimed at providing seamless travel connectivity between the two countries. This strategic move is considered a key development in the ASEAN rail system.
