Thai Minister Stresses Educational Reform to Enhance Youth Potential

Bangkok:The Minister of Higher Education, Science, Research and Innovation has emphasized the importance of transforming Thai learning methods to unlock the potential of Thai children, focusing on overcoming four key barriers.

According to Thai News Agency, the Minister is ramping up initiatives to establish a workforce ready to tackle global challenges by fostering the development of children and youth through experiential learning. Mr. Yotsanun Wongsawat, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Higher Education, Science, Research and Innovation, addressed these topics at the KIDS FORUM 2026 Facts and Solutions in Children's Health.

During the forum, Mr. Wongsawat highlighted the ministry's aim to integrate knowledge in science, technology, research, and innovation with educational practices. This integration is intended to prepare a quality workforce capable of adapting to global changes. He emphasized that adapting mindsets and learning processes is crucial, as traditional education systems largely focused on rote memorization and test-taking, often stifling creativity and the courage to dream.

He further advocated for a learning approach centered on Constructionism, where hands-on experience allows students to create and share knowledge. This approach, combined with the Kindergarten Model and Lifelong Kindergarten concepts, encourages curiosity, play, and experimentation throughout education and life. The 4P principles—Projects, Passion, Peers, and Play—are central to fostering creativity and essential life skills.

The KIDS FORUM 2026, held at CentralWorld, provided insights on children's health and parenting from experts, covering topics such as vaccines, executive functions, creativity, and analytical thinking. The forum aimed to empower parents and stakeholders to support the development and growth of children and youth effectively.
