Olomouc: The Thai Para Athletics team achieved remarkable success at the World Grand Prix in the Czech Republic, earning 1 gold and 1 silver medal at the prestigious event. The competition, held from July 2-4, 2026, saw exceptional performances from the Thai women's para athletics team at the "Olomouc 2026 World Para Athletics Women's Grand Prix." According to Thai News Agency, Suneephorn Thanomwong, competing in the T11 category for visually impaired athletes, clinched Thailand's first gold medal in the women's 100-meter race. Alongside her guide runner, Chaiwat Thongjamroon, Thanomwong completed the race in an impressive time of 12.93 seconds. Her victory is a continuation of her dominance in the sport, following her success as a five-time gold medalist at the 2025 ASEAN Para Games. Adding to Thailand's medal tally, "Aom" Sasirawan Intachoti, a para athlete in the T47 class for athletes with arm impairments, secured a silver medal in the women's 200-meter race. Intachoti, who previously won gold at the 20 22 Asian Para Games and bronze at the 2024 Paralympics, finished the race in 26.19 seconds. Her achievement marks the second medal for the Thai team at this event. The competition serves as a significant platform for female athletes, contributing to world ranking points as they prepare for the upcoming 5th Asian Para Games set to take place in Nagoya, Japan, this October.
