Thai Sang Thai Party Reaffirms Commitment to Opposition Role and Anti-Corruption Agenda

Bangkok: The Thai Sang Thai Party held its annual general meeting with a strong emphasis on its opposition role and commitment to fighting corruption. Khunying Sudarat Keyuraphan, the party leader, announced that despite challenges such as betrayal by some members, the party remains steadfast in its mission to reform and strengthen itself to guide Thailand through its current crisis.

According to Thai News Agency, the meeting was attended by the party’s executives and members, and it focused on the theme of ‘creating honest politics’ to combat corruption, which is seen as a major obstacle to national progress and economic stability. Khunying Sudarat emphasized that the political struggle in Thailand has shifted from a battle between dictatorship and democracy to one between honest and corrupt politics.

Khunying Sudarat stressed the need for leaders with the political will to eradicate corruption, calling for a comprehensive restructuring of the country to boost competitiveness. She highlighted the importance of educational reform to equip Thais with the necessary knowledge and skills to navigate the modern economy and technological advancements.

The Thai Sang Thai Party also presented a strategy for civil service reform, aiming to suspend laws that hinder livelihoods and foster corruption. The economic structural reform plan focuses on enhancing Thailand’s strengths in four key areas:

1. Safe Food and Agriculture (Food for the Future): With a significant food export value and potential for growth in health and functional foods, Thailand aims to maintain its status as a leading global food exporter.

2. Medical and Wellness Hub: Leveraging its high-quality healthcare system, Thailand attracts over 3 million medical tourists annually, generating substantial revenue and ranking highly in Asia for healthcare quality.

3. Quality Tourism (Sustainable Tourism): Tourism is a major economic driver, contributing significantly to Thailand’s GDP. The party advocates for promoting cultural and health tourism, prioritizing quality over quantity.

4. Strategic Location: Positioned in the heart of ASEAN, Thailand has the potential to become a regional logistics hub by modernizing its infrastructure.

Khunying Sudarat reiterated the party’s determination to perform its opposition duties effectively, viewing challenges as opportunities to reform and attract talented individuals across generations. The goal is to build a team committed to honest politics, eliminating corruption, and restructuring the nation for a sustainable future.
