Thai Soldier Loses Right Leg After Stepping on a Landmine

Ubon ratchathani: A Thai soldier lost his right leg after stepping on a landmine at Chong An Ma, Ubon Ratchathani. The incident occurred at 10:30 AM, involving Sergeant Major Chanarong Wongchana of the Humanitarian Mine Action Unit under the Military Command.

According to Thai News Agency, the 2nd Army Region reported that Sergeant Major Wongchana was on duty in the An Ma Channel area, Nam Yuen District, when he accidentally stepped on a landmine. The explosion resulted in the amputation of his lower right leg. He was initially transported to Nam Yuen Hospital for immediate care.

Subsequently, Sergeant Major Wongchana was airlifted by helicopter to Sapphaprasitprasong Military Hospital in Ubon Ratchathani Province for further treatment and recovery. The incident highlights the ongoing risks faced by military personnel in areas with unexploded ordnance.
