Nagoya: "Thai Surfers" have split up to compete in the Asian Games in Japan and an international tournament in South Korea. The first contingent of Thai surfing has arrived in Nagoya, preparing for the 20th Asian Games, which will take place from September 19th to October 4th, 2026. Their goal is to acclimatize to the wind, weather, and wave conditions at the competition venue to ensure optimal preparation. Meanwhile, another team, the IQ Foil team, has flown to South Korea to compete.

According to Thai News Agency, the Thai national windsurfing team, preparing for the 20th Asian Games in Aichi Prefecture and Nagoya City, Japan, departed for Japan on the night of September 8th, 2026, via Thai Airways flight TG 644. The team includes Siriporn Kaewduangngam, competing in the women's IQ Foil open category; Chanatkarn Charoensuk, competing in the women's IQ Foil under 19 category; coach Nattapong Pothinoparat; and sports scientist Sompop Sakordee.

"Will" William McMillan, a Thai-Australian athlete in the men's general category IQ Foil, and "Wal" Wachirawit Than-up, a male IQ Foil athlete in the under-19 category, will join the team on September 14, 2026, along with coach Sakda Sakulfaeng. Mr. Phatthana Boonsawat, Secretary-General of the Windsurfing Association of Thailand, revealed that the 20th Asian Games will feature four gold medals, starting on September 26, 2026. The association has sent athletes to a pre-competition training camp to familiarize themselves with the conditions at the competition venue.

Meanwhile, another team of IQ Foil windsurfing athletes has departed to participate in the International Windsurfing Competition in South Korea from September 9-14, 2026. This team consists of Petty Officer 1st Class Nitipat Chaiwutivet, Mr. Wachirawit Manbamrung, and Mr. Ratchanon Khunjaeng.
