Thai Troops Kill 8 Drug Traffickers, Seize Methamphetamine Pills in Border Clash

Fang: Soldiers from the Pha Muang Task Force clashed with a drug trafficking caravan near the Thai-Myanmar border in Fang District, Chiang Mai Province, resulting in the deaths of eight individuals and the seizure of 10 bags of methamphetamine pills.

According to Thai News Agency, Thai troops from the Pha Muang Task Force engaged with the drug trafficking caravan near the Thai-Myanmar border in Fang District, Chiang Mai Province. The confrontations occurred at two locations: a natural pass between Ban Pha Pong and Ban Lan, late last night. Following the clashes, the drug caravan retreated, and this morning, troops conducted inspections at both sites.

In the first clash, two drug traffickers were killed, and authorities seized 18 bags of crystal methamphetamine, amounting to approximately 300 kilograms. At the second location, six more traffickers were killed, and 10 bags of methamphetamine pills were confiscated. Overall, the operation resulted in the deaths of eight traffickers.

Colonel Meechai Nilsart, Deputy Commander of the Pha Muang Task Force, along with relevant agencies, inspected the incident sites and seized items. He also ordered the deployment of additional forces around the area to prevent any attempts by the traffickers to reclaim the drugs.
