Bangkok: The Ironman Army brought back medals to Thailand. The weightlifting team has returned to Thailand with its World Weightlifting Championship medals, having won 3 gold medals, 2 silver medals, and 3 bronze medals.
According to Thai News Agency, team manager Chaiyos Tangworachaikul, who led the Thai national weightlifting team competing in the World Weightlifting Championships in Forde, Norway, arrived at Suvarnabhumi Airport this morning. Maj. Gen. Intharat Yodbangtoey, Honorary President of the Amateur Weightlifting Association of Thailand, and the association’s executive committee welcomed the athletes, led by Flight Sergeant “Wave” Weerapol Wichuma, world record holder in the clean and jerk and total weight in the men’s 71 kilogram category, who won two gold medals. Petty Officer 1st Class Theeraphong Silachai secured one gold medal, one silver medal, and one bronze medal in the men’s 60 kilogram category. Thanthorn Sukcharoen added to the success with one silver and one bronze medal in the 48 kilogram category, while Corporal Surachana Khambao clinched one bronze medal in the 53 kilogram category.
