Bangkok: The government is advancing its "Thailand 365 Days" policy to boost year-round tourism in Thailand. According to Thai News Agency, Agoda reports that during the first half of 2026, Thailand emerged as a preferred destination for Asian tourists. The government is intensifying efforts to elevate Thailand's tourism to world-class standards.
Ms. Ratchada Thanadirek, spokesperson for the Prime Minister's Office, announced that the government, led by Prime Minister Anutin Charnvirakul, is actively promoting the "Thailand 365 Days" policy. This initiative aims to establish Thailand as a year-round destination to foster quality growth in the tourism sector, aligning with global tourist trends seeking nature, culture, food, and local experiences.
Data from Agoda, a digital travel platform, highlights Thailand's continued popularity among Asian tourists in the first half of 2026. Cities like Bangkok, Pattaya, Phuket, Chiang Mai, Hua Hin, and Cha-am remain favorites, while natural attractions such as Khao Yai, Nakhon Nayok, and Kanchanaburi are gaining interest. This indicates Thailand's potential to develop new tourist attractions and spread income to secondary cities and communities.
The Prime Minister's spokesperson emphasized the government's plan to link tourism with GI (Geographical Indication) products, community products, food, culture, traditions, and local identity. This strategy aims to boost economic value, generate income for locals, and attract quality tourists who will return, stay longer, and spend more.
Additionally, the Minister of Tourism and Sports, Mr. Surasak Panjaroenvorakul, informed the Prime Minister of the Ministry's readiness to develop natural and new tourist attractions. This effort includes upgrading standards in line with the Global Sustainable Tourism Criteria (GSTC) under the Thailand Green Tourism Plan 2030, aiming to rank Thailand among the top 100 sustainable tourist destinations globally.
The initiative is already showing results, as Doi Phu Kha National Park in Nan Province received the Green Destinations Awards 2026. This award underscores the potential of Thai tourist destinations to meet international standards, setting a model for enhancing other tourist attractions across the country.
