Thimphu:Thailand and Bhutan have signed three memoranda of understanding (MOUs) aimed at enhancing bilateral cooperation in public health, finance, and clean energy. The signing ceremony took place at the Pemako Hotel in Thimphu, Bhutan, on October 31, 2026, with the presence of key officials from both countries.

According to Thai News Agency, the MOUs were witnessed by Mr. Anutin Charnvirakul, Prime Minister and Minister of Home Affairs of Thailand, and Dasho Tshering Tobgay, Prime Minister of Bhutan. The agreements cover public health cooperation, green finance, and clean energy initiatives. The Bank for Agriculture and Agricultural Cooperatives (BAAC) of Thailand and the Bhutan Development Bank Limited (BDBL) signed an MOU to promote green lending and expand business opportunities for farmers.

The public health MOU aims to develop universal health coverage systems, enhance disease prevention and control, and improve medical personnel development and research. Additionally, it includes cooperation in digital medicine and telemedicine, allowing Bhutanese patients access to treatment in Thai public hospitals. The clean energy MOU focuses on technical assistance for the 100-megawatt Tareythang solar power project in Bhutan, supporting sustainable energy development.

This partnership is significant for BAAC, which plays a crucial role in fostering financial and agricultural cooperation between Thailand and Bhutan. BAAC is dedicated to leveraging its expertise in sustainable rural development to benefit both nations' agricultural sectors and grassroots economies.
