Thailand and Germany Collaborate on Joint Accreditation to Enhance Educational Standards

Bangkok: The Ministry of Education and the Ministry of Higher Education, Science, Research and Innovation (MHESI) have come together to promote "Joint Accreditation" innovation, which aims to elevate educational quality standards between Thailand and Germany. This initiative marks a significant step in transforming Thai university standards through innovative collaborative efforts.

According to Thai News Agency, Mr. Akranan Kankittinant, Deputy Minister of Education, presided over the opening ceremony of the ASIIN-MHESI-ONESQA Thailand Conference 2026. The conference is set to pilot the innovative joint accreditation program across all nine Rajamangala University of Technology (RMUT) campuses. The objective is to develop human capital that aligns with strategic needs, advancing Thai education to meet international standards. Key attendees included Ms. Ploy Thanikul and Ms. Paramee Waijongcharoen, both advisors to the Deputy Minister of Education, at the event held at the Ramada Riverside Hotel in Bangkok.

Mr. Akranan highlighted the government's focus on enhancing national competitiveness through innovation and technology-driven economic growth. A crucial mechanism in this effort is nurturing the potential of Thai people via seamless education across all levels, which includes early childhood, primary, secondary, vocational education, and programs under the Department of Learning Promotion. Collaborative initiatives aim to build and develop human capital, a vital resource for overcoming economic challenges and establishing Thailand as a regional economic leader through upgraded education standards.

Furthermore, Mr. Akranan emphasized the Ministry of Education's development of an innovative Joint Accreditation system through the Office of the National Education Standards and Quality Assessment (ONESA). This system incorporates high-quality assessment criteria from the ASIIN Institute in Germany, part of the recognized European education quality assurance database. This initiative seeks to build confidence in the quality of Thai education and enhance the capabilities of Thai individuals to meet national economic needs and adapt to the global digital economy.

In his concluding remarks, Mr. Akranan underscored the need for proactive collaboration among ministries, including the Ministry of Education, MHESI, the Ministry of Labour, and the Ministry of Social Development and Human Security. This collaboration is essential for updating curricula to align with global trends and labor market demands. Under the leadership of the Minister of Education, efforts are underway to drive forward the new Education Act, revise the Basic Education Commission curriculum, reduce teacher workloads, and address student dropout issues. Mr. Akranan expressed confidence that this integration between education and the labor market will ensure employment and income for Thai students post-graduation, with visible changes expected within 2-3 years.
