Bangkok: The Thai government welcomed the Singaporean Minister of Defence and is exploring military cooperation. The Prime Minister welcomed the Singaporean Minister of Defence on his official visit to Thailand, aiming to enhance military and defense industry cooperation. According to Thai News Agency, Prime Minister and Minister of Home Affairs Anutin Charnvirakul welcomed Mr. Chang Chun Ching, Coordinating Minister for Public Services and Minister of Defence of the Republic of Singapore. Mr. Chang paid a courtesy call on the Prime Minister during his visit to Thailand to introduce himself. Minister of Defence Lieutenant General Adul Boonthamcharoen was also present. Upon arrival, Mr. Anutin greeted Mr. Chang with a handshake and exchanged pleasantries before introducing Lieutenant General Adul. It is expected that views will be exchanged on promoting security relations and cooperation between Thailand and Singapore, based on mutual trust and their long-standing strategic partnership. Discussions will cove r ways to enhance military cooperation in various dimensions, including joint training, defense industry development, and cybersecurity, as well as strengthening ASEAN's role through the ASEAN Defence Ministers' Meeting and ASEAN Defence Ministers' Meeting-Plus. Issues related to the security of critical submarine infrastructure will also be discussed, with both sides agreeing on the importance and their readiness to move forward with cooperation. Thailand is currently reviewing relevant draft documents.
