Phuket: The Thailand Biennale Phuket 2025 has commenced with a grand opening ceremony aimed at boosting Thai tourism by showcasing art from artists hailing from 25 countries, combining cultural concepts across various locations throughout Phuket. Ms. Sabida Thaiset, the Minister of Culture, presided over the official launch at Saphan Hin Public Park in Mueang District, Phuket Province. The event is organized by the Office of Contemporary Art and Culture, Ministry of Culture, in collaboration with Phuket Province, the Phuket Art Association, along with government and private agencies.

According to Thai News Agency, the theme of the event, “Eternal Eternity,” seeks to raise awareness about environmental deterioration and its impact on nature’s balance, symbolizing the concept of eternity. Over 65 artists from 25 countries have their works displayed at 19 key locations and 13 pavilions across three districts in Phuket. The exhibition will run from April 2026 to April 2026 and aims to promote art while establishing Phuket as a world-class art city.

The opening ceremony featured a vibrant parade, performances by young musicians, and a welcome for the event’s mascot, “Bianfu” or “Bats of Happiness,” which was adorned by international artists. Key attractions included contemporary performances that blended Southern folk songs with Western music, and a dance performance titled “In Our Hearts Forever: The Queen of Arts,” celebrating Thai art and wisdom inspired by royal duties. Attendees also paid tribute to Her Majesty Queen Sirikit, the Queen Mother, expressing their condolences.
