Thailand Boxing Association Appoints Olympic Gold Medalist Somrak Khamsing as Technical Advisor

Bangkok: The Thailand Boxing Association has officially appointed Somrak Khamsing, Thailand’s first Olympic gold medalist, as its technical advisor to attract skilled boxers nationwide to the national team camp. This significant decision was made during the association’s monthly meeting chaired by Mr. Pichai Chunhavachira, President of the Thailand Boxing Association, alongside the executive committee and coaching team.

According to Thai News Agency, the meeting, held in November 2015, saw the appointment of “Mo Amata” Somrak Khamsing as an advisor on boxing technique development. This appointment marks Somrak’s return to the boxing industry after he retired from active competition. His new role is not only to recruit new talent but also to enhance the morale and well-being of the Thai national team boxers.

Somrak expressed his commitment to his new role, stating, “This time, I’m coming back to help recruit new boxers for the camp and boost morale for the Thai national team. But Somrak will take on more than that: he’ll also help take care of the boxers.” His involvement is expected to be a significant boost for the team, leveraging his experience and expertise to develop the next generation of Thai boxing talent.
