Thailand Builds Future with “Thai Childcare Coupon” Offering 2,000 Baht Monthly Support

Bangkok: Thai Sang Thai Party has announced the launch of the "Thai Childcare Coupon," a policy designed to provide financial support of 2,000 baht per month from conception until age six. This initiative is part of a broader strategy to relieve parental burdens and foster the development of Thai children.

According to Thai News Agency, Khunying Sudarat Keyuraphan, leader of the Thai Sang Thai Party, emphasized the urgency of addressing declining birth rates in Thailand, currently at only 460,000 new births annually. She highlighted the economic implications of this trend, warning that it could restrict GDP growth to a mere 2% due to a shrinking working-age population and decreased purchasing power. This financial strain on families with children often leads to inadequate nutrition and brain development issues for the young generation.

The "Thai Childcare Coupon" aims to mitigate these challenges by offering monthly financial assistance that can be used to purchase essential childcare items, including milk and vitamins, as advised by medical professionals. This policy is targeted at ensuring proper nutrition and developmental support for children, alleviating parental financial stress, and encouraging more couples to consider having children to counteract the low birth rate.

Addressing concerns about funding, the Thai Sang Thai Party assures that the necessary budget, estimated to be in the tens of billions of baht annually, can be sourced through transparent management and by reducing wasteful expenditures. They argue that if 4 billion baht can be allocated for MotoGP, then investing in the future of Thai children is equally viable. The party calls on parents to trust in their administrative capabilities to effectively manage this initiative and reduce the financial burden of child-rearing.
