Bangkok: The Election Commission of Thailand has issued an urgent reminder for voters to register for advance and absentee voting for the upcoming parliamentary elections. Registration for these voting options will close on January 5th, ahead of the general election scheduled for February 8th, 2026.
According to Thai News Agency, eligible voters who are unable to cast their votes at designated polling stations or their registered addresses are encouraged to register for advance voting. This includes voters within their district, those outside their district, and those residing outside the Kingdom of Thailand. Applications for advance voting can be submitted to local district registrars, ambassadors, or authorized representatives during office hours. Alternatively, voters can apply by mail, with the postmark date serving as the submission date.
For voters outside Thailand, online applications are available 24 hours a day. The online system will automatically close at midnight Thailand time on January 5th, 2026. In addition to parliamentary voting, registration for the referendum is also open until January 5th for those unable to vote at their designated polling stations on February 8th. This includes persons with disabilities, impairments, or the elderly who wish to vote outside their designated districts.
The Election Commission emphasizes that applications must be submitted by the January 5th deadline, either to district or local registrars or through authorized ambassadors during official working hours. The commission also notes that online applications will cease accepting submissions at the specified closing time.
