Bangkok: Thailand is set to experience ongoing thunderstorms and heavy rain in some parts of the eastern region, as reported by the Meteorological Department. In Bangkok and surrounding areas, thunderstorms are anticipated to affect 40% of the region.
According to Thai News Agency, the Meteorological Department forecasts thunderstorms over the next 24 hours, with some areas in the eastern region expected to receive heavy rainfall. Residents are advised to remain cautious as the moderate southwest monsoon influences the Andaman Sea, Thailand, and the Gulf of Thailand. Mariners are warned to exercise caution due to waves reaching heights of 1-2 meters in the upper Andaman Sea and exceeding 2 meters in areas with thunderstorms.
Additionally, Tropical Storm “MATMO” has intensified into a typhoon over the upper South China Sea, moving towards Guangdong Province in southern China. The storm is expected to make landfall today and weaken rapidly thereafter, with no direct impact on Thailand.
The forecast for Thailand from 6:00 AM today to 6:00 AM tomorrow indicates that the northern region will see thunderstorms in 40% of the area, affecting provinces such as Mae Hong Son, Chiang Mai, and Tak. Temperatures will range from a minimum of 22 degrees Celsius to a maximum of 35 degrees Celsius.
In the northeastern region, thunderstorms are expected in 30% of the area, particularly impacting provinces like Bueng Kan and Sakon Nakhon. The central region will experience 40% coverage of thunderstorms, with provinces such as Kanchanaburi and Suphan Buri being affected.
The eastern region will see thunderstorms covering 60% of the area, with heavy rain anticipated in provinces like Nakhon Nayok and Chanthaburi. The southern regions, both east and west coasts, will experience varying levels of thunderstorm activity, with notable impact expected in provinces such as Surat Thani, Phang Nga, and Trang.
Bangkok and its vicinity are forecasted to have thunderstorms in 40% of the area, with temperatures ranging from a minimum of 24 degrees Celsius to a maximum of 34 degrees Celsius.
