Bangkok:Nearly 20,000 attendees have participated in the IMF-WBG meeting, marking a record high and reflecting positively on Thailand as an effective host.
According to Thai News Agency, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Finance, Ekniti Nitithanprapha, expressed pride in Thailand's ability to organize the event, meeting high standards and enhancing confidence among international investors. The IMF commended Thailand for incorporating traditional Thai fabrics in the meeting hall decorations and involving the local community in the event's organization.
Ekniti highlighted significant topics presented by Thailand, including the "Small AI Big Job" initiative aimed at increasing employment opportunities for Thais, and the "Whispering Bird" project, which has garnered international interest. Discussions also covered Thailand's role in a polarized global environment and ongoing trade tensions. The event served as a platform to demonstrate the nation's economic development since hosting a similar event in 1991.
Looking ahead, the Bangkok Blueprint will be unveiled, outlining strategies to combat scammers. This follows the "Connect the Dots" initiative, which linked government agency data, with plans to align financial data with global standards for improved scam prevention.
Ekniti also noted the IMF's upward revision of Thailand's economic forecast, emphasizing a focus on investment as a key driver of growth, aiming for an increase of more than 3% with support from both the government and the private sector.
