Bangkok:The government, in collaboration with nine partners, is launching the "Travel Across Thailand with Tours" campaign to subsidize transportation costs up to 40,000 baht per trip. This initiative aims to boost domestic tourism and is anticipated to generate over 208 million baht in revenue.
According to Thai News Agency, Ms. Ploytalay Laksmisangchan, Deputy Spokesperson for the Prime Minister's Office, announced that the government, through the Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT), is working with nine tourism partners. These include the Thai Tour Operators Association, the Tourism Industry Council of Thailand, and the Thai Ecotourism and Adventure Travel Association, among others. The campaign is designed to promote inter-provincial travel and stimulate the grassroots economy by encouraging Thais to explore the country's charm through various tour packages.
The campaign offers a wide range of travel packages, including religious, cultural, historical, nature, health, adventure, and corporate social responsibility activities. Travel for these packages will be available from October 15, 2026, to January 31, 2027. The subsidy for bus fare includes a minimum of 30 passengers per bus, with support of 10,000 baht per day, up to a maximum of 40,000 baht per trip. For vans, a minimum of six passengers per vehicle is required, with support of 2,500 baht per day, up to a maximum of 10,000 baht per trip.
The travel must be inter-provincial, lasting at least two days and one night, and include an overnight stay in a province other than the starting point. Highlight activities as specified by the partner agencies must also be included. The TAT will cover non-regular bus transportation costs as per the project's guidelines.
The campaign is expected to significantly boost tourism revenue, increasing spending across the business chain from travel and accommodations to restaurants and local products.
