Siena:The concept for the Thailand Pavilion at the 2026 IMF-World Bank annual meeting was unveiled by Mr. Veerathai Santiprabhob, former Governor of the Bank of Thailand. The pavilion will emphasize five principles of King Rama IX's work, aiming to showcase Thailand's approach to development under the theme "Empowering People, Building Resilience."
According to Thai News Agency, The Ministry of Finance and the Bank of Thailand collaborated to present Thailand's development philosophy, drawing inspiration from His Majesty King Bhumibol Adulyadej as a model for people-centered development. This approach has been implemented over the past 60-70 years, significantly benefiting the Thai economy and the quality of life of its people.
The five principles to be showcased include solving large problems by starting with small, localized actions, prioritizing people-centric development, and emphasizing phased, sustainable development. Additionally, the principles advocate for using nature-based solutions to address natural problems, and building resilience to cope with economic volatility, drawing lessons from the 1997 financial crisis.
These principles, which have been applied throughout King Rama IX's reign, are intended to guide future development challenges and share Thailand's experiences with the global community. Mr. Veerathai emphasized that these principles are not mere concepts but have been tested and practiced effectively in Thailand.
