Bangkok: The Cycling Association of Thailand is gearing up to send three of its top cyclists to the 2026 World Road Cycling Championships in Montreal, Canada. This strategic move is aimed at securing qualification for the 2028 Olympic Games in Los Angeles, marking a significant step in their athletic journey following their participation in the 20th Asian Games.

According to Thai News Agency, General Decha Hemkrasri, the President of the Cycling Association of Thailand, expressed the association's commitment to propelling Thai national cycling teams onto the global stage. Following the Asian Games, which are scheduled from September 19th to October 4th, 2026, in Nagoya, Japan, the association has outlined plans to compete in high-profile international events. The focus is to accumulate essential points for the upcoming Olympic Games. Specifically, the cyclists will compete in the UCI Road World Championships 2026, slated to take place from September 25th to 27th in Montreal.

Colonel Mook, another prominent figure in the association, highlighted that Thailand has secured quotas to compete in three categories at the UCI Road World Championships. Mr. Arthit Poolard will represent in the men's senior category, Ms. Pittayaporn Sae-Tan in the women's senior category, and Mr. Judah Thompson in the men's under-23 category. These athletes will be under the expert guidance of Lt. Col. Chanphen Nonthasin. The overarching goal of the association is to achieve at least four quotas across road cycling, track cycling, and BMX for the 2024 Olympic Games in France.
