Bangkok: The Meteorological Department has issued Warning No. 6, alerting residents of Thailand to anticipate very heavy rainfall and the possibility of flash floods from June 29 to July 3, 2026.
According to Thai News Agency, the announcement highlights the forecast of heavy to very heavy rain in specific regions, particularly the eastern and western southern parts of Thailand. This weather pattern is attributed to a monsoon trough moving over the northern and upper northeastern areas, compounded by a strengthening southwest monsoon over the Andaman Sea, Thailand, and the Gulf of Thailand. Residents are urged to remain vigilant, as the intense rainfall and accumulated water may lead to flash floods and landslides, especially in slope areas near waterways and low-lying regions.
The report also indicates rough sea conditions in the upper Andaman Sea during the same period, with wave heights reaching 2-3 meters, and exceeding 3 meters in areas experiencing thunderstorms. Similarly, waves in the lower Andaman Sea and the upper Gulf of Thailand are expected to reach approximately 2 meters, surpassing this height in thunderstorm-prone zones. Mariners are advised to navigate with caution and avoid sailing in storm-affected areas, while small boats in the upper Andaman Sea are recommended to remain ashore.
For public safety and to mitigate potential disruptions, individuals are encouraged to plan their activities and travel with caution during this period. Continuous updates and information will be available from the Meteorological Department through their website at http://www.tmd.go.th or via their hotline numbers 0-2399-4012-13 and 1182, which operate 24 hours a day.
