Thailand Prepares to Host 13th ASEAN Para Games in Nakhon Ratchasima

Nakhon ratchasima: Thailand is ready to host the 13th ASEAN Para Games in Nakhon Ratchasima from January 20-26, 2026. Dr. Kongsak, Governor of the Sports Authority of Thailand (SAT), updated that all preparations are proceeding according to plan. Meanwhile, the Thai Paralympic team, competing in all 19 sports, is undergoing intensive training with the goal of winning the overall gold medal count.

According to Thai News Agency, Dr. Kongsak Yodmani, Governor of the Sports Authority of Thailand (SAT), revealed the progress in preparing to host the 13th ASEAN Para Games, to be held from January 20-26, 2026, in Nakhon Ratchasima province. He stated that the preparations in various aspects have been ongoing concurrently with the hosting of the recently concluded 33rd SEA Games. With only 25 days remaining, everything is being systematically prepared and proceeding according to plan.

Dr. Kongsak emphasized the complexities involved in organizing the Paralympic Games, which require classifying athletes by disability and managing transportation, accommodation, competition venues, training grounds, and technical equipment. However, he assured that the relevant parties possess the necessary knowledge and capabilities to handle these tasks, with instructions to closely monitor the process to prevent any errors.

The Governor also addressed the readiness of the Thai national para-sports athletes, who are diligently training in all 19 sports to prepare for the upcoming competition. The SAT is utilizing sports science and nutrition to ensure the athletes are in peak condition. While the Thai team aims to win the overall gold medal count, they are mindful of their competitors, especially Indonesia, which has shown significant development.

The 13th ASEAN Para Games will feature 19 sports, including athletics, archery, badminton, 5-a-side football, boccia, chess, cycling, 7-a-side football, goalball, judo, weightlifting, swimming, table tennis, sitting volleyball, shooting, wheelchair basketball, wheelchair fencing, wheelchair tennis, and bowling, with a total of 493 gold medals to be contested.
