Bangkok:According to Thai News Agency, Thailand is gearing up to host the 2026 IMF-World Bank Group Annual Meetings, with preparations in place after three years of work. The event will take place at the Queen Sirikit National Convention Center (QSNCC) and is expected to draw over 15,000 participants from 191 countries, including policymakers, economists, and representatives from both the government and private sectors.

Thailand aims to utilize this event to attract foreign investment in key industries such as artificial intelligence and electric vehicles, positioning itself as a global economic hub. The country is also showcasing its hospitality and culture by integrating technological advancements and digital innovations with traditional Thai identity in welcoming guests, which includes unique hospitality elements.

The government is encouraging public cooperation by asking Bangkok agencies to work from home and has declared October 16th a public holiday. The upgraded QSNCC features a Master Control Room and a live broadcasting system on par with major global events, and security measures have been heightened with the assistance of the Royal Thai Police.

The conference is projected to have an immediate economic impact of 1,050 to 2,250 million baht, benefiting sectors like tourism and hospitality. Nearly 17,000 participants have registered, and the number is expected to rise.

Thailand will use this opportunity to display its digital infrastructure, clean energy initiatives, and investment incentives to attract foreign direct investment. The event also highlights Thai culture with decorations featuring traditional fabrics and local artistry, as well as featuring environmentally friendly practices like using electric vehicles to reduce carbon emissions.

The Thailand Pavilion exhibition will focus on digital infrastructure, climate resilience, and the longevity economy, showcasing advancements in financial services, eco-friendly tourism, and the wellness industry. Additionally, a commemorative exhibition will highlight His Majesty's development initiatives, emphasizing sustainable development and resilience-building.
