Bangkok: Philippine Foreign Minister Sihasak Srisuk held discussions with the Philippine Foreign Minister, expressing gratitude for his leading role in the ASEAN observer delegation. He reiterated Thailand's strict adherence to the ceasefire agreement with Cambodia and pledged to serve as a bridge between ASEAN and Myanmar, supporting the peace process.
According to Thai News Agency, Mr. Sihasak Phuangketkaew, Minister of Foreign Affairs of Thailand, held a telephone discussion with Ms. Maria Teresa P. Lazaro, Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of the Philippines and Chair of ASEAN. During the call, Mr. Sihasak reported on the informal discussions between the Minister of Foreign Affairs and the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of the Union of Myanmar on February 18, 2026, in Phuket. The discussions focused on Thailand's proposals for promoting appropriate and gradual re-engagement between ASEAN and Myanmar, and ASEAN's role in supporting the progress of the peace and reconciliation process within Myanmar. Thailand expressed its readiness to serve as a bridge between ASEAN and Myanmar.
Taking this opportunity, they provided the latest updates on the situation along the Thai-Cambodian border, reiterating Thailand's strict adherence to the ceasefire agreement and expressing gratitude for the Philippines' leading role as an ASEAN Observer of the Air (AOT). Furthermore, both sides welcomed the strong bilateral relationship between Thailand and the Philippines and pledged to continue coordinating closely on both bilateral and regional issues.
