Bangkok: The National Research Council of Thailand (NRCT) has officially announced its readiness to co-host the STS Forum Japan-Thailand Symposium 2026. The announcement was made during a press conference held by the Ministry of Higher Education, Science, Research and Innovation. Dr. Wiparat Dee-ong, Director of the National Research Council, led the event alongside Professor Yoshio Otani, Director of the JSPS Bangkok Office, NRCT executives, and members of the press at the Heritage Research Promotion Center in Bangkok.
According to Thai News Agency, Dr. Wiparat Dee-ong emphasized that Thailand, through the NRCT, is fully prepared for the symposium, which is scheduled for April 24-25, 2026, at the Centara Grand Bangkok Convention Centre, CentralWorld, Bangkok. The theme for the event, 'The Great Convergence: AI-Driven Health, Environment, and Bio-Economy,' aims to bring together leaders, researchers, policymakers, and industry representatives from Thailand, Japan, and other nations. This gathering will focus on exchanging knowledge, sharing experiences, and shaping development directions on critical global issues like artificial intelligence, health, environment, and bioeconomy.
The symposium not only highlights the strong ties between Thailand and Japan but also showcases Thailand's potential as a regional hub for science, technology, and innovation. It provides a platform for promoting international cooperation and sustainable development. During the event, representatives from academia and international organizations shared their perspectives on organizing the symposium. Key figures included Professor Yoshio Otani, Associate Professor Dr. Krit Charupanich from Prince of Songkla University, and Assistant Professor Dr. Sunthorn Dantithawornwat from Mahidol University, who are participants in the STS Forum Young Leaders 2025 initiative supported by the NRCT.
