Thailand to Host Major International Economic Meetings

Bangkok:Next week, Thailand will host the annual meetings of the World Bank and the International Monetary Fund Governors at the Queen Sirikit National Convention Center. This event will serve as a platform for the Thai private sector to demonstrate its capabilities and welcome business leaders from 191 countries.

According to Thai News Agency, the Thai government is inviting its citizens to join in hosting over 15,000 financial leaders for the 2026 Annual Meeting of the Board of Governors of the World Bank and the International Monetary Fund (AM2026) from October 12 to 18.

From the perspective of the capital market sector, Mr. Paiboon Nalintrungkur, Chairman of the Federation of Thai Capital Market Businesses (FETCO), views this event as a significant opportunity for Thailand. It will bring finance ministers, economic leaders, and central bank governors from around the globe together, potentially benefiting the Thai economy in the long term. The conference will highlight Thailand's ability to host large-scale international events and communicate positive economic developments, such as new economic engines and improvements meeting OECD standards. These advancements aim to build confidence among financial leaders and could lead to increased capital inflows into Thailand, boosting the Thai capital market and economy.
