Chiang mai: Thailand's women's volleyball team has emerged victorious at the second leg of the SEA V Cup 2026, clinching the championship title with an impressive performance against Vietnam.

According to Thai News Agency, the Thai team defeated Vietnam in straight sets, 3-0, without dropping a single set throughout the tournament. This achievement comes after their previous victories over the Philippines and Indonesia, both with 3-0 set wins, resulting in a perfect score of 9 points over the tournament's second leg.

The championship took place at Gymnasium 1, Chiang Mai 700th Anniversary Stadium, where head coach Kiattipong Ratchatagriengkrai's lineup, including captain Pornpun Guedparach and standout players like Chatchuon Moksri and Pimpichaya Kokram, showcased exceptional skills. Vietnam, led by captain Tran Thi Thanh Thuy, struggled to match the Thai team's prowess, culminating in Thailand's decisive 25-20, 25-10, 25-15 victory.

The final standings saw the Philippines take second place, followed by Indonesia in third, and Vietnam in fourth. This championship win marks Thailand's dominance in the BYD DMI 6th SEA V Cup 2026, having secured victory in both legs of the tournament.

Looking ahead, the Thai women's volleyball team is set to compete in the 2026 AVC Women's Volleyball Continental Championship in Tianjin, China, from August 21-30. As defending champions, they are placed in Group B alongside Kazakhstan, Indonesia, and Australia. Success in this tournament could see them qualify for the 2028 Olympic Games, with the top three teams also earning spots at the 2027 World Championship.
