Bangkok: Thaksin Shinawatra, the former Prime Minister of Thailand, returned to his Chansongla residence amidst a welcoming crowd of Red Shirt supporters. Thaksin, who was released from Klong Prem Central Prison earlier in the morning, rolled down his car window to greet the supporters, marking a significant moment for his followers.
According to Thai News Agency, Thaksin was released from prison at 7:40 AM and made a stop at the Probation Department to complete necessary procedures, including the fitting of an Electronic Monitoring (EM) bracelet. By 9:02 AM, he arrived at his residence, Baan Chan Song La, where a large crowd of supporters, who had been gathering since 6:50 AM, eagerly awaited his return.
The scene outside the Chansongla house was filled with anticipation as Red Shirt supporters set up camp to catch a glimpse of Thaksin. Other supporter groups also joined, creating a vibrant atmosphere in the area. Upon his arrival, Thaksin expressed his sentiments by sharing, "I've been in seclusion for eight months," before retreating into his home.
Earlier during the day, after his visit to the probation office and the fitting of the EM bracelet, Thaksin made a brief comment, stating, "I can't remember anything anymore. I have Alzheimer's," highlighting the challenges he faces post-release.
