Bangkok: Former Prime Minister Thaksin Shinawatra hosted the funeral rites for Pol. Gen. Phon Paladraksa, paying respects alongside key figures from the Pheu Thai party and numerous attendees.

According to Thai News Agency, the Buddhist funeral ceremony was held at the Sala Kweeniramit (Water Pavilion) at Wat Thepsirin for Pol. Gen. Phon Paladraksa, who died peacefully at 103. Among those present were prominent political figures and members from various sectors. Thaksin Shinawatra, along with Pheu Thai Party dignitaries such as Phumtham Wechayachai, attended the ceremony. Pol. Gen. Phon was the father of Dr. Pakpilai Thavisin, wife of Setha Thavisin, Thailand's 30th Prime Minister. The family organized a bathing ceremony and a royal bathing ceremony on August 2nd, followed by Buddhist funeral rites from August 2nd to 4th and August 6th to 7th at 6:30 PM. There will be no funeral rites on August 5th and 8th.

The royal cremation ceremony is set for Sunday, August 9th, at Wat Thepsirin. The schedule includes ten monks chanting Buddhist prayers at 10:00 AM, followed by lunch for the monks at 11:00 AM. At 2:00 PM, ten monks will chant funeral prayers, and at 3:00 PM, the body will be moved around the crematorium and placed on the pyre before the royal cremation ceremony at 5:00 PM.
