Chiang mai: Tham Luang Mae Saap, an "Unseen Rainbow Cave" located in Samoeng District, Chiang Mai Province, is set to reopen to tourists on July 1, 2026. This follows a three-month closure for renovations aimed at enhancing safety and facilities in line with eco-tourism principles.

According to Thai News Agency, the Department of National Parks, Wildlife and Plant Conservation has been instrumental in ensuring that the cave is ready to welcome visitors from around the world. The upgrades include improvements to the asphalt road leading to the site and the paving of parking areas with concrete. Walkways and patterned flooring have also been constructed to ensure visitor safety and comfort as they explore the cave's natural beauty.

The cave, a naturally formed limestone structure, is renowned for its vibrant mineral-rich walls and has earned the designation of "Unseen Thailand." It consists of four main chambers, each offering a unique experience. The Rainbow Wall Cave showcases cave walls with natural streaks of color, while The Cave Hall of the Ordination Hall features a natural ceiling opening that allows sunlight to stream in, creating a picturesque effect. The Emerald Cave is noted for its green-hued walls, and the Diamond Cave Hall offers a display of sparkling stalactites and stalagmites.

Tham Luang Mae Saap is situated within Khun Khan National Park and is approximately a 1.5-2 hour drive from Chiang Mai city center. Visitors can enjoy the scenic journey through lush natural landscapes to reach the site.

This rainy season, tourists are encouraged to visit the newly renovated Tham Luang Mae Saap Cave for an eco-tourism experience. The site will be open for exploration from July 1st, 2026, offering a unique opportunity to witness its rainbow-colored wonders firsthand.
