Thammanat Denies Pre-Promising Ministerial Roles Amidst Political Speculations

Bangkok: Thammanat Prompao, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Agriculture and Cooperatives, firmly stated that he has never pre-promised ministerial positions to anyone, emphasizing the importance of thorough vetting for qualifications. He urged the public to refrain from fabricating phrases and stressed the support of his southern constituents for the Kla Tham Party, making it clear that he will not coerce anyone to join or leave.

According to Thai News Agency, Thammanat, serving as an advisor to the Kla Tham Party, recently commented on the party’s growing popularity following a visit to the southern region. Reflecting on his visit to Su-ngai Kolok District in Narathiwat Province, he mentioned the overwhelming encouragement he received from grassroots supporters who urged him to address their issues.

In response to queries about pre-promised ministerial appointments, Thammanat dismissed such claims, pointing out the complexity and meticulous nature of the appointment process. He assured that the Kla Tham Party adheres to a rigorous qualification process, and no premature promises were made.

Addressing concerns about the potential impact of Mr. Chanonpat Naksua’s case on the Kla Tham Party’s election prospects, Thammanat maintained that it was irrelevant. He reiterated the party’s commitment to upholding the law and ensuring accountability for those found guilty.

Thammanat highlighted the constitutional criteria for running as a Member of Parliament, urging against unnecessary speculation that could lead to social issues. He emphasized the pressing national challenges that require priority attention.

When questioned about the opposition’s potential no-confidence motion, Thammanat expressed his readiness to address any political scrutiny. He underscored the necessity for politicians to accept accountability and navigate investigations under constitutional protocols.

Regarding the Kla Dharma Party’s perceived focus in the no-confidence debate, Thammanat encouraged a broader perspective. He has tasked Capt. Anudit Nakornthap, the party’s chief strategist, with organizing a legal team to evaluate the situation, acknowledging the scrutiny the party faces. Despite these challenges, Thammanat remains committed to advancing the party’s mission, likening a politician’s honor to steadfastness on the political stage.

In response to questions about Mr. Chuwit Pitakpornpallop’s continued association with the Kla Tham Party, following social engagements involving his daughter and members of another party, Thammanat emphasized personal autonomy. He stated that decisions to stay or leave rest with the individuals involved, and he refrains from applying pressure or incentives. Thammanat’s leadership, he noted, requires dedication and continuous effort.
