Thammanat Inaugurates 70th Teachers’ Day Celebration, Honoring Queen Sirikit

Bangkok: Deputy Prime Minister Thamanat Phromphao presided over the 70th Teachers' Day celebration in 2026, emphasizing the role of teachers and honoring Her Majesty Queen Sirikit, the Queen Mother, as the mother and teacher of the nation. The event took place at the Teachers' Council Auditorium, Ministry of Education, with Prime Minister Anutin Charnvirakul delivering the Teachers' Day message and the motto for 2026: "Every Thai person is a student with a teacher."

According to Thai News Agency, the Deputy Prime Minister highlighted the 70th anniversary of Teachers' Day as a time of significance for all Thais, noting the influential roles of "mother" and "teacher" in people's lives. He pointed out that these roles are exemplified by Her Majesty Queen Sirikit, the Queen Mother, who is regarded as a role model for the Thai people. Her compassion and knowledge have been instrumental in transforming lives and promoting sustainable self-reliance.

The Deputy Prime Minister also mentioned that teachers are seen as inheritors of His Majesty's royal legacy. The government acknowledges the sacrifices made by Thai teachers, who are tasked not only with educating but also with nurturing individuals into well-rounded human beings. He stressed that teachers serve as parents, mentors, and advisors in a changing world, and their dedication cannot be replaced by any technology or advanced innovation.

The event included the presentation of 16 awards and certificates of merit to education professionals. A total of 1,220 teachers and benefactors of Thai education were honored, including 65 outstanding teachers who received the 2025 Outstanding Teacher Award.
